Benefits

  • CO2 emissions due to transport are responsible for 23% of total green house emissions. (IPPC, 2018).
  • Emissions from passenger’s transport account for 70% of total transport emissions.
  • 87% of Australia commuters travel to work by car. (climate council, 2018).
  • Inefficient bus system based on fixed routes and schedules discourages people from using public transport.

  • New land available for parks, markets and community activities. (Rizwan, 2016).
  • Improved air quality.
  • Less congestion-related noise pollution.
  • Benefits to household economies.
  • Less cars built and scrapped.
  • Better quality of transport.

Point Cook Transport crisis

CO2

F1. Commuters mostly drive to reach train station causing traffic congestion.

How to implement them

F2. Unnecessary loop in bus route.

Next Generation's Buses

  • Enable the intelligent bus system for Macquarie university students and staff as a pilot that will carry the people from the campus to the main transport hubs.
  • Second stage would be to start using the system in outer suburbs where the public transport is very inefficient. For example, taking passengers to the main train station which is always packed with cars in the morning. E.g Point Cook.
  • Once the system is finalised and the logistics are clear, it can be applied on a National scale.
  • We estimate that we can reduce by 90% the number of cars on the street.

Risks

Alternative Green Transportation

  • Construction of unnecessary buses.
  • People’s attachment to cars.
  • All people that don’t use mobile technology, e.g. old people and tourists might be left out.
  • Because the system is public is prone to vandalism.

  • Replacing current bus system with a modern system that incorporates latest geo-location and communication technology to start a transport revolution.
  • Digital platforms with map location and quick transfer of information is widely used and it a proven and cheap technology.
  • We will apply an existing and robust technology to modernize the bus system.
  • We aim to release the dependency on cars by providing an intelligent and efficient service.
  • Synchronisation between trains and buses making it a cost-effective service.
