Plummet Paradise

Pitch

By Lena Hoover

The

Idea

This is my newest pitch for Six Flags Over Georgia! It's an island paradise themed thrill roller coaster that will feature a stomach churning drop!

This is a drawing

of my vision for Paradise Plummet...

The Logistics

As you all know, there is a lot of planning involved in the process of building a roller coaster. Luckily, I have everything you'll want to see right here!

Plummet Paradise is not a ride for the faint of heart! It goes through a series of twists, turns, and loops going at an average of 75 miles/hour! The best part however, is when the coaster plummets down the 95 foot hill, accelerating the whole way! The peak velocity of the ride is 90 miles/hour, as it whizzes down the drop! The ride totals a distance of about 3700 feet, and lasts roughly 60 seconds.

  • Newton's 1st Law of Motion is why the coaster relies partially on mechanics for the roller coaster to be set into motion and to stop moving at the end of the ride.
  • Newton's 2nd Law affects the acceleration. The acceleration of the coaster is created by a combination of the force from the car on the passenger and the force of gravity.
  • Newton's 3rd Law impacts the passenger's experience. The passenger's weight pushes on the car, and the car pushes on the passenger with an equal force in the opposite direction, this also adds to the feeling of "weightlessness" that you get when going down a steep drop on a roller coaster.

Although Plummet Paradise is a thrill ride, you can rest assured that it is perfectly safe. Gravity applies a constant downward force on the cars, and the tracks are there to channel this force and control the way the coaster cars fall. If the tracks slope down, gravity pulls the front of the car toward the ground, so it accelerates. If the tracks tilt up, gravity applies a downward force on the back of the coaster, so it decelerates.

Conclusion

Thanks for Watching! I hope you'll consider Paradise Plummet to be the newest roller coaster at 6 Flags Over Georgia!
