Causes of the Texas Revolution Timeline

Fredonian Rebellion

The Fredonian Rebellion was a fight between the Mexican government and the Edwards brothers. And it was the first attempt by Anglo settlers in Texas to run away from Mexico. The new law that happened made the colonists mad which made a step towards the texas revolution

Mier y Teran report

This was started when Mier Y Teran said that strong measures should be taken to stop united states from aquiring texas. The report suggested more troops to surround the surrounding settlements, to have closer trades with mexico, and to have more mexican and european settlers. This had to do with the start of the texas revolution because it told mexico to protect texas.

The law explicitly banned any further immigration from the United States to Texas and any new slaves to be bought or selled in texas. This would make everyone mad which would be a step towards the texas revolution

The Anahuac disturbances were uprisings of settlers in and around Anahuac. This started because the Mexican government's attempt to collect taxes from the local Texan citizens and to control illegal immigration by Anglos. This would later be a cause to the texas revloution

This battle first started when Texian Militia attacked Fort Velasco. This was the first place where bloodshed happened between texas and mexico which had to d with the texas revolution.

Convention of 1832 & 1833

The Convention of 1832 was the first political gathering of colonists in Mexican Texas. And the Convention of 1833 was when multiple new laws were added to texas. Colonists thought that the Mexican government could serve better to the colonies so they got mad and that was significant towards the texas revolution.

Santa anna become president

Santa Anna becomes Mexican President

Santa anna becomes the president of the mexican government in 1833. And people start to rebel with this because they are upset and it made his army march over to texas. This was significant towards te texas revolution

Austin arrested

Austin arrested in Saltillo

Austin was arrested because he was promoting the cause of Texas independence and suspicion of trying to incite insurrection. He was taken to Mexico City and imprisoned. This made lots of people very angry and rioted and got really mad and this had to do with the texas revolution because the mexico fought back.
