Early-education teacher
SALARY
Starting: $45,000
Median: $58,000
High: $71,000
- Teaches either preschool or Kindergarten
- They just teach young children the basics of communication and learning
- Working hours can be long because you need to come in before the students get there and leave after the students leave
- It may be exhausting some days if the kids aren't behaving properly
- It may cause stress because you need to take care of a bunch of little kids all at once
- You need to know how far away your house is from the school so you won't be late driving there
- You must have a bachelor's degree
- You should also have some experience with children (babysitting, being a student teacher in a classroom, etc)
I am...
- patient
- active
- good with children
- caring
- selfless
- I would want to have my job as working with children
- I want to help out the community
- I want a job that requires some work, not something too easy
- I want to be able to teach kids in a way that is easy for them to learn
- apartment
- Mount Prospect, Illinois
- $975/month
- It's not that big which is good because I want to live alone
- It has wooden floors which is another reason that I like it, since I don't want a full carpeted floor
- I knew that I wanted an apartment because I want to live alone, so this one was good
- I liked this specific one because it was a pretty good price for the size of it, and it looked like it was well kept by the previous owners; it didn't look like it was trashy or anything.
- 2021 Nissan Versa
- Total cost: $15,930
- Monthly cost: $268/month
I wanted something that's semi-cheap but also worth the money, so this one was good
I was able to afford the house and car with the money that I would make being an early education teacher, so it all lined up
Pros
- I make enough money to buy the house and car, while having money left over
- It's a job that I would enjoy
- It's a job that helps out the community
Cons
- It takes extra years at college to get the required degree
- It takes a lot of hard work, which isn't always a bad thing, just challenging
- It might be hard to find a school in the area that is looking for a teacher that teaches the preferred age group
I could either teach a different age group, become an architect, or become a project manager. There are other options but those are only a few.
A. You have a job you love, but it won't pay enough money to buy the house and car in which you were interested.
B. You have a job that you don't enjoy but it will allow you to buy the house and car you wanted.
I would pick B because I would prefer to be able to pay for my house and car, even if it requires me to not like my job. If I am poor but happy then I'm not really happy because I don't have the money for basic necessities. Some might say that money can't buy happiness, but it definitely can buy extra "wants" that could make me happy.
I learned that planning out for my future won't be as hard as I had thought it would be so I can be less nervous for when I actually need to do it.
I will need to focus on doing well in the first four years of college so that I can do well in the extra years required to get a bachelor's degree. In high school I can babysit to get used to working with younger kids and having responsibility.
