In 1968 AIM was established in Minnesota to fight for the native peoples rights. This is also the year the aim patrol was established to keep an eye on the police of Minneapolis Minnesota. This was to make sure the police did not mistreat the native people.

The occupation of alcratraz was planned by Richard Oakes and Native American students. As well as some local Native Americans who called themselves the Indians of all tribes. This group came together at night and invaded alcatraz taking up occupation there.

A group of Native Americans was led by the San Francisco-based United Native Americans. They went to the top of Mount Rushmore which was about 3,000ft high, and they set up a camp to protest the broken treaty of Fort Laramie. They also seized a replica of the Mayflower in Boston Harbour.

Aim called for a gathering of indigenous people from across the Western Hemisphere on the land of standing rock. Energy transfer partners (ETP) demolished an area that contained "significant native artifacts and native sites".

The longest walk major national protest event that began in San Francisco where a group of American Indians set out to Washington, DC, to symbolize the forcing of the removal of Indians from their ancestral homes".

Indian Mineral Development Act (1982)

The Indian Mineral Devolopment Act was "to permit Indian tribes to enter into certain agreements for the disposition of tribal mineral resources", acording to Congress.gov.

It allowed agreements from Indian tribes for the devolopement of the minerals for energy and non-energy.

It also provided the Tribes to develop their minerals in any way they wanted. No form of agreement was required to be prescribed.

Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (1988)

In 1988, the Indian Gaming Regulatory act, (IGR) was released. It gave protection to the Native Indias form the government to not tax their lands. This meant that they could have the casino and didnt have to worry about being taxed.
