What Happened In the 1900's

1900's

In 1917, The Smith-Hughes National Vocational Education Act established vocational agriculture classes.

What happened to the FFA in the 1920's.

1920's

In 1928, 33 students from 18 states, met in Kansas City, to form the Future Farmers of America. (FFA)

In 1925, Virginia Tech, agriculture teachers organized the Future Farmers of Virginia. The FFV served as a model for the Future Farmers of America.

What Happened In the Dirty 30's?

In 1930, the Official FFA Creed written by E.M Tiffany was adopted.

1930's

In 1933, the blue corduroy jacket was adopted as Official Dress.

What Happened in the 40's?

In 1944, 138,548 FFA Members were serving in WWII.

1940's

In 1948, the first FFA week was held during the week of George Washington's Birthday!

What Happened in the 50's?

In 1952, the first issue of The National Future Farmer was published.

1950's

In 1953, the US Post Office Department issued a special stamp to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the FFA!

In 1965, New Farmers of America merged with the Future Farmers of America.

In 1968, Former President Richard Nixon attended the national FFA convention in Kansas City.

In 1973, the FFA Official Dress stranderds were created.

Also in '73, Fred McClure was the first African-American elected into the national FFA office.

In 1980, the National FFA Foundation raised $1 million dollars in one year, for the first time.

In 1982, Jan Eberly, from California, became the first female national FFA president.

In 1994, Corey Flournoy, from Illinois, was the first African-American to be elected national FFA president.

In 1997, the first Agri-Entrepreneurship awards were presented.
