How it began and ended
After 2 years of losing battles from Confederate side, the union side wasn't looking to good, but then, According To Most sources, it "mainly started out as a chance encounter between the Union and Confederate Forces" So once the chase was over, they decided that in the early morning of July 1st 1863, they decided that they where going to fire back at them which cause the start of the Gettysburg battle.
Next, was the second of the Gettysburg, July 2, 1863, probably the most important day of the battle. What was so important about it was that General Robert E Made a battle plan that divided there confederates to attack both flanks of the Union line on cemetery ridge. It took almost 3 hours for it to end which won them tactical significance for his army.
Continuing on the third day, July 3, 1863 was what caused the end of the 4th year of the civil war. In the crack of dawn there where plans by General Robert E. Lee ordered General Longstreet to prepare General Pickett's troops for the assault, once that happened it started with normal fighting but then the whole union troops repelled a massive artillery assault on cemetery ridge.
After three long and exhausting battling at Gettysburg with countless loss from the Confederate side and four long years of over 10,500 military engagements occurred during the Civil War with 50 major battles of the Civil War, with about 100 other significant battles, the whole United States agreed to stop fighting and stop slavery in whole.
