The yellow boxes show the pathway that our ILT agreed upon. We had many discussions around which priority was appropriate for our school. We spent time as a team looking over student data from various assessments. We discussed the programs that we use at the school and how they support our diverse student population. As a team we decided on the pathway you see here.
The ILT has used this book as a resource for our work. We adapted a tool from this book to use in our own school.
The team walked into randomly selected classrooms to observe teaching and look at the classroom environment all with the lens of hallmark 4. We recorded low inference notes as well as our questions.
The team saw theme based graphic organizers, domain specific vocabulary with pictures and definitions
We noticed charts to help teach math and reading terms.
We noticed word walls, charts, and displays with content specific vocabulary words.
We looked closely at the word walls to see what words have been selected.
Strategy: Teaching Individual Words "Words with familiar concepts: Word Icons"
Students in class 4-2 were responsible for defining new terms and drawing an illustration to match the term. Student work was then posted on the class word wall.
Brought to you by the ILT here at P.S. 316
Our school focus is...
