What is Edo?

Tokugawa Shogunate was the miltitary leader of Japan during the Edo period (1603- 1867) The Edo period was a time in Japans history that was focused on economic growth, strict social hiearchy.

Daimyo were feudal lords who, as leaders of powerful warrior bands, controlled the provinces of Japan during the Edo period This warrior class, as newly risen holders of political authority, developed cultural traditions inherited from the court. They are equivalent to premiers in Canada

Samurai

Ronin

Samurai were the military nobility and officer of early-modern Japan from the late 12th century They were the well paid the great feudal landholders. They had high prestige and special privileges such as wearing two swords and kiri sute gomen, the right to kill anyone of a lower class in certain situations. They cultivated the bushido codes of martial virtues, indifference to pain, and unflinching loyalty, engaging in many local battles.

a rōnin was a type of samurai who has no lord or master. A samurai becomes a rōnin with the death of his master, or after the loss of his master's favor.
