Timeline On Dancing

Renaissance Dance

Court dancing was for the upperclass but slowly became less seriouse and more for the common folk.

1500

Masquerades became very popular and was or even a party with mask and costooms

1600

Barque

Ballet introduced and music was highly changed during this period.

1800

Tap Dancing

Tap dancing originated from African Tribe dancing. They would commonly wear leather shoes with two pieces of metle. Which they would dance on wooded floors to make the clicking sound

1890

Merengue dancing

Originated in the Dominican Republic. It is a Caribbean dance style and dancing like a tango-like postion

Jazz and Acro dancing

Jazz dance originated from Africa and puts an emphasis on rhythm and timing. Acro dance is short for acrobatics that take a lot of skill and was widly popular.

The Charleston Dance

These dancers were called the flappers and previouse popular in the African-American culture. Jazz music would usally be playing when doing this complex dance.

Contempary dance

Contemporary dance is a style that combines jazz, ballet, and modern dance. It involves a lot of technique usage. It is very popular among the competitive dance scene today.

Hip Hop Dance

Hip hop dance made an entrance in the 1970s. It originated from African tribe dances. There are many styles of hip hop that include breaking, popping, locking, and more.

Dance Nowadays

Todays dance style is more hip hop then the other styles of dancing. Ballet, jazz, and contemporary are still popular in dance studios, especially competitive dance studios.

I think we should bring back balls and renasance dancing. They say the past repeats its self so who knows mabe square dancing will become more popular.
