Social Revolution: Emergence of Science and Technology Advancement

Social revolution became the starting point of the advancement of science and technology. Science and technology drastically emerged as the people transformed from being ignorant to inventing and making changes.

Protestant Reform

What is an example of social revolution that have made a big impact in the advancement of science and technology?

On 1517, Protestant Reform began when Martin Luther published a document “Disputation on the Power of Indulgences,” contradicting the church’s teachings. It consists of 95 ideas about Christianity wherein he invited people to debate with him.

What are the things that was transformed by social revolution specifically in science and technology?

Changes

  • People were able to explain things with basis and proofs because they already know how to research and think critically.

  • Typhoons, lightning, and earthquakes were no longer seen as punishment from God but natural disasters that needs preparation to prevent injuries.

  • Pills, injections,medical equipments and surgeries were discovered and invented to cure illnesses and save us from injuries. Scientists can also possibly make humans "a-mortal" wherein people's lives can be extended.

Social revolution allows them to discover their capabilities and know how necessary it is to acquire and look for new knowledge as it make changes on people's lives. If there is no social revolution that happen, what do you think is our situation now?

Science as a Part

Science is not superior but only takes a part in giving us a picture of reality.

"science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind’"

According to Albert Einstein, ‘science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.’ With this quote, he exposed the ignorance and arrogance of the people who consider either of one superior.He also emphasized that none of the two can stand alone as it will both be irrelevant.

What made us think that science is "superior"?

What made us think science is "superior"?

Since we think only Science can give us a picture of reality, we stopped looking at the bigger picture and just rely on it. We forgot to see that we and a lot of things are also a part of it.

Conclusion

There is no superior in terms of giving us a picture of reality because after all, we, science, and environment, all takes a part for us to understand and see what reality really is. Science can't do it all alone.
