A special premiers conference agrees to make a new federation convention.

A second people's conference in Bathurst, New South Wales, renews calls for another federation convention.
1897–98
The second National Australian Convention was held in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne, and agreed to the constitution.
1898
Referendums are held in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania to make the constitution. It is voted by all but New South Wales.
1899
In January the premiers held a secret meeting and agree to several changes to the constitution.
Between April and July referendums are held in South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania at which a main vote 'yes' to the vote. In September, Queensland voters endorse the constitution.
1900
In March a delegation travels to London to present the constitution to the British Parliament.
5 July the British Parliament passes the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act.
9 July Queen Victoria signs the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution
31 July Western Australia holds a referendum at which a huge amount of voters approve the Constitution.
Sir Henry Parkes was an Australian politician and longest person to go back and forth with the Premier of the Colony New South Wales in Australia. He was born on 27 May 1815 and died on 27 April 1896 Henry Parkes is the father of federation because he started the progress of getting everyone togeather in the first place to federate. Henry didn't stay alive long enough so he didn't see Australia as one country. He was the 7th premire of NSW and was elected 8 times.
