How the Gods apply symbolically in the story and in the real world today
In the story, By the Waters of Babylon, the gods are this higher being that is worshipped throughout the story and idolized by the main character John. John goes on an adventure to find the lost land of the gods. He finds it and on the way to tell his father he sadly passes away.
In the nation of the United States there are multiple things people worship. Very similar fashion to the way John's people worship the gods. These things vary from person to person. But the main things people worship in the U.S. is money, government, and power.
In this short story the main character, John, by his worship of the gods goes on a quest that leads to his death. To compare both the story and the U.S. The comparison is basically that the story this boy follows his worship until death and the people of the U.S. do so but in a much different manner. They do it because they worship power, money and Government. This makes the story and the people of the United States more of the same!!!!!
