Oral and Written Communication (OWC) Competency Part A

English

  • English Sequence
  • English 100 (4 credits) or English 101 (3 credits)
  • English 102 (3 credits)

  • Start in the course in which you placed.

  • Earn a “C” or better to move on to the next course.

  • To satisfy the competency, complete English 102 with “C” or better, or test high enough on the English Placement Test (EPT).

Quantitative Literacy (QL) Competency Part A

Math

  • Math Sequence
  • Math 94** -> Math 105 -> Math 211
  • Math 98** -> Math 108 -> Math 211
  • Math 105 -> Math 211
  • Math 211

  • Start in the course in which you are placed.

  • Earn a grade of “C” or better in order to move on.

  • To satisfy the competency, complete Math 105 or 108 with “C” or better OR test high enough on the Math Placement Test.

  • After completing Math 105 or 108, all business students must complete Math 211 Calculus.

Developmental Math

**Developmental Math

  • Math 94 and 98 do not carry degree credit towards graduation but do count as credits towards your semester total. Math 94 counts as 6 credits and Math 98 counts as 3 credits.

  • Students who test into Math 98 should enroll in Math 98/108 paired section.

  • Students who test into developmental math (Math 94 or 98) should enroll in Panther Math Prep (PMP) and then retake the math placement test.

GERs

  • 3 credits of Arts
  • 6 credits of Social Sciences
  • 6 credits of Humanities
  • 6 credits of Natural Science, 1 course must have a lab component
  • 3 credits of Cultural Diversity: Can be paired with Arts, Social Sciences, or Humanities
  • Foreign Language: 2 years of the same language in high school OR 2 semesters of the same language in college

2. Enroll in Bus Adm 100 on PAWS.

3. If you tested into Math 98, use the half sheet in your folder to enroll in

Math 98/108 on PAWS.

4. Open Schedule Planner and finish enrollment.

5. An advisor needs to check your schedule.

6. Go to UWM email to complete program evaluation survey.

  • See sheet in folder for instructions on how to login to your email.

7. Set up UWM email and download Navigate Student App on your phone.
