I'm not sure how the plane got shot down. But it does say that this book takes place during a war, so the plane could got have gotten shot down by shooters or planes with guns.

I think that all the boys should have went and explored the island instead of just 4. Why i think that is because the odds of anyone getting lost when they are in a large group is lower that if you are just with 4 people.

I think that Ralph was smart when he declared the boys to make a fire to signal other ships. It was smart because they need to get the attention of other people for help.
