On October 31st 1451, Christopher Columbus was born in the Republic of Genoa, Italy. His mother Susanna Fontanarossa and his father Domenico Colombo was a weaver and a cheese merchant. Christopher Columbus had three brothers (Bartholomew, Giovanni, Gicacomo) and one sister (Bianchinetta).
Christopher Columbus attended school at Prince Henry's School of Navigation. Chrisopher Columbus married Felipa Perestrello and had two sons (Diego and Ferdinand Columbus).
Growing up, Christopher Columbus graduated school and moved to Portugal with his brother Bartholomew and started a map making business. In Portugal he met his wife, Felipa Perestrello. He was known for being caring, compassionate, but also intense and serious. He enjoyed learning math and studying maps.
Christopher Columbus died May 20th 1506 in Spain at 55 years old due to Congestive heart failure, and his place of burial is in Seville Cathedral, Spain. He was known for making trips across the Atlantic trying to find a water route that lead to Asia but stumbled across America instead, 500 years after Leif Erikson (a viking) did. Columbus changed history by giving new land opportunities to the Europeans to create colonies and get new crops such as potatoes, chocolate, corn etc. Damage he had done had affected the land and tribes of Native Americans along the way.
