What is an independent clause?

a group of words that contains a subject and verb and expresses a complete thought. An independent clause is a sentence.

Paul studied in the ice cream shop.

Maria danced with her brother.

Angelo smacked into the wall on his motorbike.

DEPENDENT CLAUSES

What is a dependent clause?

a group of words that contains a subject and verb but does not express a complete thought. A dependent clause cannot be a sentence.

When I go to the store.

Because I like dogs.

What is a conjunction?
