BASIC LITERACY PROGRAM

Is an intensive community based training for illiterate out-of-school youth and adults who are willing to learn basic literacy skills.

school-aged children) by developing basic

literacy skills of reading,

writing and numeracy.

Family Basic Literacy Project

is a literacy service learning intervention utilizing literate family members to help non-literate members upgrade their literacy skills and improve the educational opportunities of poor families.

makes education accessible to out-of-school youth and adults in the remote, deprived, depressed and underserved (DDU) difficult to reach communities.

MOBILE TEACHERS DEFINED

Who are the MT?

Mobile Teachers are “specialized” teachers who live among the people in remote barangays of the country and conduct the BLP for illiterate out-of-school youth and adults who are willing to learn basic literacy skills and Accreditation and Equivalency (a continuing education) for those who left formal school system or have no access to schools.

The objectives of MTP are:

A. Make education accessible to out-of-school youth and adults;

B. Raise the level of literacy in the target areas;

C. Improve the quality of life of individuals and families in remote and underserved communities; and

D. Increase the cohort survival rate at the elementary/secondary level.

ADOLESCENT FRIENDLY LITERACY ENHANCEMENT PROJECT (AFLEP)

provides target learners aged 10-24 years old with basic literacy about early marriage and parenting, family planning,drug prevention education, livelihood projects, health education and environmental education.

Balik-Paaralan para sa Out-of-School Adults (BP-OSA)

is a non formal education program for the elementary and secondary level of out-of-school-youth and adults delivered in selected elementary and secondary schools teachers serving as Instructional Managers (IMs).

* ( BP-OSA)is a certificate Program offered to those who wish to earn an equivalent high school diploma.

* The ALS Accreditation and Equivalency program is being utilized in the program

Radio-Based Instruction (RBI)

is an alternative delivery mode of ALS Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) that uses radio broadcast through the local community radio stations.

As a form of distance

learning, it is able to expand access to education by

bringing it to where the learners are. It aims to provide

learning opportunities to listeners and enable them to

acquire equivalency in basic education through the

broadcast of lessons.

E-skwela Project

is designed to provide eLearning opportunities to Filipino Out-of-school Youth and Adults who were not able to avail the opportunities laid by the formal school system and would like to finish their basic education, where interactive computer-based multimedia learning resources will be the primary source of instruction.

is an education activity that addresses the special needs and interest of the marginalized and other interest groups of learners, making use of the life skills approach for personal development.

The learning materials/packages may be developed/adopted/adapted or gathered from other sources and tailored-fit to the identified needs of the said users.

ALS for Differently-Abled Persons(ALS-DAP)

is a special project that delivers ALS program to differently-abled out-of-school youth and adults through specialized approaches.

This special project is envisioned to regard the out-of –school youth and adults who are differently – able as unique persons , who despite their limitations can become more productive members of the society.

* The main thrust of this project is the provision for the development of the basic skills in reading , writing & numeracy

Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education (ALIVE)

It is a new approach of delivering ALS program to the Muslims OSYs and adults. The program provides core learning with additional Islamic concerns consisting of Arabic language and Islamic values in the learning experiences of Muslim learners.

* The overall goal of this program is to be able to positively contribute to peace efforts of our government in order to improve the quality of life of muslim OSY and adults through the ALS

* In addition it is expected that livelihood and entrepreneurship training model and support network will be evolved for this education program.

Accreditation and Equivalency

Program (A&E)

Accreditation and Equivalency Program (A&E)

is a certification of learning for OSY and adults aged 11 years old and above for elementary and 15 years old and above in secondary who are unable to go to or have dropped out of the formal school.

ALS Accreditation and Equivalency

- formerly known as the NFE A&E Test

- Offers the test takers a certification of learning achievements at two learning levels

- Comprise standardized paper and pencil-based tests and use multiple-choice test and composition writing

- Items are based on the learning competencies of the five learning strands of ALS Curriculum

- Largely based on prior learning

Who are the target clienteles of the

ALS A&E Test?

- An elementary level drop out at least 11 years old

- A high school dropout at least 15 years old

- Non-passers of previous ALS A&E Tests

Youth and adults although in-school but overaged for Grade 6 (more than 11 years) or for 4th year (more than 15 years]

* Unemployed / underemployed OSY’s and adults

* Elementary and secondary school dropouts / leavers

* Industry-based workers, housewives, maids, factory workers, drivers

* Members of cultural minorities/indigenous people

The Adolescent Reproductive Health is a project

for out-of-school adolescents ages 9-24 years old.

It is a life skills-based education program for

adolescents who are in high-risky behavior,

sex-related or non-sex related behavior.

COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTERS

* The project aims to establish and strengthen community

learning centers in every barangay in collaboration with

the local government units.

* It is a repository of all reading materials & other

relevant documents to be used by the community for literacy

& continuing education.

* It is a physical space to house learning resources and

facilities & a venue for face - to – face learning activities.

* A collection of print and non-print materials, such as

books , pamphlets, recordings and films placed in a receptacle

to be circulated in target areas to serve the literacy and

continuing learning needs of prospective learners.
