In 1970 the D.R. Congo was in stage 2 because, as seen by the pyramid, there was high proportion of children to people in their productive years. Thus, there was a high dependency on young children, most likely because they helped in farming. There is also low education because the CBR is extremeley high. Medical care is probaly not available as seen can be seen by the high CDR.
The pyramid of the D.R. Congo shows a steep difference of the population between children and elderly. The base is broad, since there is a large dependency on children, but as people grow older, the population exponentially declines.

DTM: Stage 2
The D.R. Congo continued to be in Stage 2 of the DTM during the 1990s, however, there was a higher CBR and a slightly lower CDR than in 1970. By the beginning of the 90s, the country was coming out of a political upheaval which caused a lot of problems, thus the country stayed in the same stage since there was no time for medical and technological advances in the D.R. Congo.

In the first decade of the 21st century, their was an increase in violence in the D.R. Congo. In addition, people continue suffering from unsanitary conditions and malnutrition, thus keeping the life expectancy to a low age, a high CBR/CDR, and the D.R. Congo labeled as a developing country.
Like the pyradmid of 1970, The pyramid of the D.R. Congo shows a steep difference of the population between children and elderly. The base is broad, since there is a large dependency on children, but as people grow older, the population exponentially declines. However, during this decade, there is a smaller population of elderly due to violence and diseases in the country.
