A red panda is a mammal native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China. It has reddish-brown fur, a long, shaggy tail and a waddling gait due to its shorter front legs. It is also called the lesser panda, red cat-bear, red bear-cat and red coarse-haired cat. Adult red pandas weigh between 4 and 6 kg (8.8 and 13.2 lb) and measure between 50 and 64 cm (20 and 25 in) long, excluding the tail, which can be as long as 48 cm (19 in). The species is sexually dimorphic, with females being slightly smaller than males on average
