Origin

The Isbar is a rare breed that was developed in the 1950s in Sweden. A catholic monk had the goal to create autosexing breeds that lay a high volume of unusually colored eggs.

  • They lay around 250 large green eggs a year.
  • The eggs vary in shade of green from a dark olive to a lighter moss green. Some eggs also have small brown speckles against a green background, and many chicken aficionados think Isbar eggs are the most beautiful of any egg.
