wolves

cubs and they're young years

Cubs

A cub weighs about one pound at birth and is totally deaf and blind, with little sense of smell but a well-developed sense of taste and touch. Most cubs are born with crystal blue eyes, but usually the color changes to a golden yellow or a muddy brown within 16 weeks, or sometimes it doesn't change... Until a wolf pup is about four weeks old, it lives on milk from its mother. It then starts to eat meat, via the stomach of an adult wolf. The pup licks the adult wolf's mouth and the adult wolf regurgitates the meat. All the wolves in a pack help feed the pups, bringing food to them when they are very small so their mother does not have to leave the den. When the pups are a little bigger, pack members take turns bringing them food, At the age of about four weeks, the adult pack members encourage the pup to leave the den for short periods of time. Pups are typically fully weaned (stop drinking their mother's milk) by the age of eight weeks.

Hunters

Hunters

Wolf hunting is the practice of hunting gray wolves or other species of wolves. Wolves are mainly hunted for sport, for their skins, to protect livestock and in some rare cases, to protect humans. Wolves have been actively hunted since 8,000 to 10,000 years ago, when they first began to pose a threat to livestock vital for the survival of Neolithic human communities. In 2011, 149 wolves were culled of the permitted 150. Under the Berne Convention wolves in France are listed as an endangered species, and killing them is illegal.

Types of wolves

Wolves are the largest members of the dog family. The Grey Wolf is known as the Timber Wolf in North America and the White Wolf in the Arctic, or more generally as the Common Wolf. Wolves are legendary because of their spine-tingling howl, which they use to communicate.Much like barking domestic dogs, wolves may simply begin howling because a nearby wolf has already begun. Wolves are mammals, carnivores and their scientific name is Canis lupus.

In the lower 48 states, gray wolves were hunted to near extinction, though some populations survived and others have since been reintroduced. Few gray wolves survive in Europe, though many live in Alaska, Canada, and Asia. Wolves live and hunt in packs of around six to ten animals. They are known to roam large distances, perhaps 12 miles in a single day. wolves can go for more than a week without food. A wolf pack is made of two or more wolves with their own defined territory

What do wolves eat?

Meals

Wolves primarily eat meat. Their favorite prey is large hoofed mammals, such as deer, moose, bison, and caribou. Since many of these animals are larger than wolves, the only way wolves can catch them is to live and hunt in groups. Wolves require more than just meat to stay healthy, though. They also eat fruits and vegetables to stock up on nutrients not found in meat. They enjoy berries like blueberries, ash berries and cow berries, as well as fruit like apples and pears.

Going away...

Passing away

Some wolves go away peacefully, but a lot of them now days go away by being killed just for there coat. Wolves stay together even with the sick ones until the end. They will be loyal and if a mother, the she-wolf will protect her young until the very last moment. If they are being hunted even if they can't they will run in hope that they will escape and live their life the nicely, at least. But that doesn't always happen...
