House Mice

House mice and climate changes

Climate Change

~This graph is showing us what the rain fall could possibly look like for our future

Impacts on our area

Changes In Temperature

Impact 1

  • Since 1895 the Southern part of the Great lakes temperature has increased by 1.3 degrees F.

  • If the temperature continues to increase city's like Cincinnati would have at least 85 days that the average temperature would be 90 or higher, and a whole month of temperatures over 100 degrees F

Change in precipitation

Impact 2

  • Heavy down pores in Ohio have been increasing since 1950

  • By 2050 the chance of high runoff could increase by 25%, causing places to flood

Solutions to climate change

Look for the best fuel economy car

Solution 1

  • Doing this will allow you to save the atmosphere and allow you to save a ton of money

  • 25 pounds of heat-trapping gasses are caused by each gallon of gassoline

Recycling!!

Solution 2

  • Recycling allows us to force production down because we are reusing the materials we have in our houses

  • Doing this also makes are carbon fooprint go down

Claim:

In response to climate change the House Mouse would not be affected.

House mice and their reactions to climate change

Range of House Mice

Range

~Evidence~

  • The mice range generally consists in the more popular areas of human civilization such as the US, Europe, China and Australia

  • To support the claim

this animal has no barriers

to stop them from

migrating (they just don't have

the means to do so). Instead

they seek shelter in human's

homes

Lifespan

Lifespan

~Evidence~

  • In shelter they can live up to 2-3 years, in the outdoors they can live up to 12 months
  • They reproduce throughout the whole year
  • Females have 5-10 litters per year, they usually consist of 3-12 litters (5-6 mice in each litter)
  • House mice sexually mature 5-7 weeks after they are born

  • To connect to the claim, the lifespan of these animals and the reproduction rate would allow them to live sufficiently in conditions such as climate change

Predators

Predators

~Evidence~

  • Domestic cats
  • Weasels
  • Ferrets
  • Large lizards
  • Snakes
  • Hawks
  • Falcons
  • Owls

(these are some of the house mice predators)

- This connects to the claim because if climate change where to continue to happen, some of these predators would not be able to adjust to these changes.
