There were many different characters and settings in Black Beauty. Here are just a few of them.
Black Beauty was a horse that was taught good manners (no kicking or biting). His mother was called Duchess and he was called Darkie. One day he saw a man and horse accidentally shot. The horse was called Rob Roy. Darkie's mother was very sad. She had known him for a long time. Once Darkie was old enough, his owner started to break him. Then he was sold to a man named Squire Gordon. He was renamed Black Beauty.
His new owner, coachman, and groomer were really nice. He overheard his coachman and groomer talking and discovered that Rob Roy was his brother!!!
The horse in the next stall was named Merrylegs who asked him if he bit or not (no). Merrylegs was a friendly horse. The horse next to Merrylegs had a very bad habit of biting and was called Ginger. One day Black Beauty was taking his master to work. It was raining hard and some places were even flooding!!! They came across a bridge while they were going home. Black Beauty sensed danger and stopped. His master urged him to move on. However, a man ran out and shouted that the bridge was broken in the middle! Squire Gordon realized that Black Beauty had saved his life.
Once even Black Beauty was saved! He was at a hotel stable and a guy with a pipe walked in. During that night, the pipe started a fire. James, his groomer, bravely walked in the stable and saved him and Ginger. Another time, Black Beauty's mistress was sick. She needed medicine urgently. John, his coachman, rode Black Beauty to the doctor's house. The doctor borrowed Black Beauty and rode off. He was a bad rider and Black Beauty ached all over when he got back to his home. He had saved his mistress's life.
After his Mistress got sick, her doctor said they needed to move to somewhere else so once again, he was sold. After getting sold, he was sold even more times. Some people were kind and nice. on the contary, some were harsh and lazy. Through out his adventures, he found out that not all people were as kind as Squire Gordon.

Will Black Beauty ever find the owners he once loved?
