Event #1
Rufus was a son of a slave owner. He started out the novel as a innocent little boy. In "The River" Rufus was swimming nd startedto drown. Dana came back in time and saved him from drowning but his mom was very rude to her and hit her because of her color. In this event we learned that rufus home life may be a little rough, and may effect him throughout the novel.

Event #2
Rufus lights his curtains on fire and Dana has to come back to help him AGAIN, but this time its like Rufus is looking out for Dana because he gave her tips on how to not get spoken to or hurt by his parents. This shows he is caring for Dana.
Event #3
Dana continus to come back and save Rufus for a third time. This time he had broken his ankle and she needed to get him back home and help him out. She sent Nigel (rufus friend) to go get help. Meanwhile Dana is being called racist names by Rufus. When Rufus dad shows up he offers kevin and Dana to stay at there house because Rufus lied to his father about kevin and Dana. This made me confused because at first he was going after Dana now he is helping her, which made me skeptical.
Rufus is caught trying to rape Alice, he is then getting beaten up. Dana travels back in time to see this all happeing and saves Rufus even tho she is seeing he is doing wrong theres still something about him thats making her want to save him. After this I feel as if Rufus is going to starT to take advantage because he knows he will be saved at anytime.
Now this time Rufus ask Dana to help him with Alice's relationship. If Dana doesnt help him she will not be born. This is didnt really show decline to me it showed growth because he finally wasnt really doing something bad.
Rufus is found drunk and unconcious outside, Dana finds him and take shim back to the house. He was suffering from denuge fever. Dana was told she can stay as long as she keeps saving his life by his father. This is making me believe that Rufus does these things because he knows its the only way she can stay with him.
Rufus ask Dana to write letters to his creditors, he wanted her to do this because one she is a writer and two he thinks Dana can push back the slaves being sold. This shows growth in him because he is doing something nice for dana and her people, its also showing him not being selfish for once.
Rufus is giving off the impression he want to be with both Dana and Alice, this is not the case he wants to be with Alice but he wants to be able to talk to Dana whenver. This shows that rufus is growing more emotionally and starting to think about his actions more.
Event #9
Rufus ends up having a family with Alice. But... Rufus lied to Alice about selling their kids to a Slave owner which causes her to hang her self. This showed major decline in Rufus he didnt think about other people just himself in this situation, which caused him to lose his wife. This also showed selfishness to the readers.
Rufus tries to rape Dana.. causing her to stab him to death. This had shown major decline because he was lying to both aalice and Dana the whole time, and kept her around to get close to her so she didnt think anything of it. This had show that Rufus didnt really change for real throughout the book.
As I finished reading Kindred, My character Rufus I feel like startedout as a innocent child but grew up to be a manipulaitor. He took advantage of Dana and took her away from her own life so he could live his. Whihc isnt right. I would say thats a major decline because he turned out to be a bad person
