What is A Death Mask?
- When people died Egyptians would make masks so that when the soul leaves the body the person would recognize his/her body in the afterlife
- these masks were also thought to protect the body from evil spirits in the after life
What is a Death mask?
What is it made out of?
- If they were rich they would make the mask out of metals such as gold on bronze metal.
- But, if they were from the lower class the mask would be made out of cartonnage soaked in plaster and molded onto wood.

- King Tut ruled for 10 yeas in Egypt then died at age 19
- During his rule he restored traditional Egyptian religion and art by restoring he the temples, art, personnel, and privilege of the old gods
- his mom was Queen Nefertiti and his father was Amenhotep

- He died from a gangrene infection
- Whenever researchers scanned the body they found that there was damage to his skull from bad handling of his body
