Overview
In order to understand the pals place in our community, we must take a look at the Pal's history starting in NYC. Since it humble beginnings the PAL has become a safe haven for juveniles across America. Enabling a deeper connection between the community and law enforcement
Each County has its own structure , not all PAL's are created equally. Programs and community impact rely heavily on funding and support from larger corporations. In layman's terms, the larger the community the more $upport the PAL center will receive.
Started in the 1914-1930 in New York City
The Pal's mission was to engage inner city youth byway of positive police interaction thru athletics
The Manchester Police Activities League, Inc. (PAL) was established in 1992 to foster positive relationships
between youth and police officers.

Like many community agencies the PAL has felt the impact of Covid-19. Many of their programs came to a screeching halt once the pandemic hit. This has caused a decline in student enrollment as well as government funding.
As of 2022 the Manchester Pal offers Karate and 3 on 3 basketball. This is a major Difference from the wide variety of programs that were offered pre-covid.
Due the the demand of police presence in the Manchester community, even volunteers are scarce.
This leaves the question? How is the community being served?
Stephen Desautels, Executive Director
Manchester Police Activities League(PAL)
The Manchester Pal is ran by Stephen Desautels who is the liaison between the community and the Police. Stephen works closely with the Youth Services Bureau in order to connect Juveniles with opportunities to transform their perceptive of the police .
During his tenure as the ED of the PAL he has implemented a variety of programming and relationships within the Manchester Public school system in order to engage youth and families.
Mr. Desautels has often spoken with the police chief in order to bring law enforcement to schools in order to educate youth and reinforce that police are just people who acquired the job to protect.

How will we Collaborate
1. Invite families and students to the 3 on 3 games they have every friday throughout the summer
2. Inform families that they have martial arts classes and communicate scholarships that are available
3. Educate scholars on the importance of safety and the police in the community
4. Inquire with Admin about having the police dog come in for scholars during our informational unit.
5. Inquire about a partnership between the STEM department in order
