ABOUT LEADERSHIP

WHAT IS LEADERSHIP?

Leadership, both as a research area and as a practical skill, encompasses the ability of an individual, group or organization to "lead", influence or guide other individuals, teams, or entire organizations. A leader inspires and helps others become their best selves, building their skills and achieving goals along the way.

ABOUT

JEFF

WHO IS JEFF BEZOS?

Jeff Bezos is a successful etrepreneur. He has proved himself to be one of the best leaders in the world at the moment with a successful company like Amazon. He had to be creative and use reasoning skills to think of a way to make Amazon stand out and be different from companies and Target and Walmart that are already out there. His goal was to create value for everyone you interact with and his focus was on customers and not competitors.

HIS MANAGEMENT

STYLE

HIS LEADERSHIP STYLE

Jeff Bezos leans heavily toward the autocratic leadership style. An autocratic leader is a leader that asserts absolute authority and control over subordinates and demands unquestionable obedience from subordinates. Bezos exhibits some straightforward signs of autocratic leadership, such as:

  • Bezos frequently overrules a lot of decisions, even among the top minds on his team.
  • Bezos exhibits a high level of confidence, which can make it difficult to own up to mistakes.
  • Bezos enforces a unique meeting strategy: everyone has to read a six-page memo to get on the same wavelength beforehand.

AMAZONS LEADERSHIP STYLE

AMAZONS MANAGEMENT STYLE

The leadership style of Amazon reflects the autocratic. Some in Amazon’s leadership report that Bezos enforces this culture with a highly demanding, ambitious environment. Then Amazon leaders must live up to this culture. It's also been reported that those who don't share a “conquer-the-world” mantra in some form tend to frustrate Bezos. Bezos has created an emphasis on objective truth. This means that Amazon focuses not on its internal opinions, but on the facts borne out in the marketplace.
