Cell Analogy - House

A house is lot like a Plant Cell.

Smooth endoplasmic reticulum transports things around the cell like a staircase would in a house. It makes people get to different parts around the house. Because of its functions, Endoplasmic Reticulum is called the intracellular highway.

The Cell membrane is like the walls and the door of the house. Cell Membrane is a thin layer which contains the cytoplasm and the organelles. It goes by many names like the Plasma Membrane, Fluid Mosaic Model and Phospholipid Bilayer. In a house, the walls hold the bricks in place. The pores in the cell regulate in what comes in and what goes out. It is the same with the house. It also protects from unwanted things.

Cytoplasm is a jelly-like substance, mainly made my water. It is found between the Nucleus and the Cell membrane. The bricks inside of the house act the same way. Without the walls, there wouldn't be a place for people to live. We also wouldn't have room separated in a house.

Nucleus

The nucleus is the largest organelle in the cell. It is the control center for cell metabolism and reproduction. It contains the genetical information(DNA) in its chromosomes. Living Room is the nucleus as people spend most of their time. The living room is the central part of the house just like the nucleus in the cell.

Pantry is the Golgi Apparatus in the house. It stores food for later use or displacement.

Packages protein or food made by ribosomes and in this case the stove is the ribosomes. Also encases them in meals.

As the cell wall protects the cell membrane, the fence protects the house. It is located outside of the house

whereas in the cell it is located outside of a cell membrane

Lysosomes digests unwanted material / trash. In a house a trash can works the same way. It contains digestive enzymes to help break food down. Lysosomes are also known as the suicide sac.

Chloroplasts

Chloroplasts act to convert the light energy of the Sun into sugars that can be used by cells. The continuous process is called photosynthesis and it all depends on the little green chlorophyll molecules in each chloroplast. In this case, The energy is the electricity. Through the solar panels, sun's energy can be absorbed which is later converted into electricity.
