Review the POI for your grade. Become familiar with the order of your units.

*How did the units change from last year?

*How did you select the key concepts, attitudes and learner profile attributes for each unit?

POIs and Unit Planners

Look at your unit 1.

At your table talk about what you have done so far with your students in this unit. Talk about what you will do tomorrow as well as Thursday and Friday so that your students are working on something from the unit.

Keep in mind the unit ends on October 25th, so we still have two weeks left.

For the Visit:

1. Every student must have a portfolio, with a new cover for this year. Student must know why they have a portfolio.

Don't Forget

2. You have an Unit of Inquiry board up in your room that clearly displays the first unit. There should be pictures as well as student work up. You should have books and/or artifacts that help students in the unit displayed around the room.

3. Have lesson plans for Thursday and Friday that include the essential elements of the PYP. For example, if you plan a group project write in transdisciplinary skills: Social Skills and Communication Skills.

Write in the learner profiles and attitudes for the lesson.

4. Plan a learning experience that is from your unit planner. We want the team to see you working on the unit with your students.

5. Finally, remember that the IBO wants us to walk the walk as well as talk the talk. If we are telling our students to take risks, then we should be taking risks as well. If we tell our students to be confident then we should be too.
