- My great-grandmother- Was a maid, died young
- Moved to Memphis from Oxford, MS for better jobs
- Lavon Shaw (my grandad)-was a vocation tech, a mailman
- Church going family, Christian
My Dad
- Carlos Shaw-Born and raised in Memphis
- Went to Georgia Avenue Elementary School
- Graduated from Ridgeway high school
- Attended Univ. of Hawaii at Manoa on scholarship for football
- Moved back to Memphis after college
- Wanted to come back, loved memphis, knew he was going to teach, wanted to change community
- Got a teaching job at OHS in '99

- His dad (Tommy Montgomery)-a carpenter in Dumas
- His mom(Levalla Montgomery)-was a RN, went back to school when the kids were older
- Tommie worked for miller brewery, harley davidson, worked in quality control
- he went to UAPB, back then called AM&N
- met nana at AM&N

- Her dad(James Pennoy Davis) had two jobs- worked for a company in PB, made pallets for rivers and Simmons bank
- Her mother (Ida May Hays) was a stay at home mother, like many women at that time
- Attened Coleman High school
- went to UAPD for two years
- Met my papa, had their first kid, moved to WI in '59
- no jobs in arkansas so they moved to WI
