When Diemer created bubble gum, it was by accident. He was working as an accountant for the Fleer Chewing Gum Company and on his free time he played around with new gum recipies. One day he ended up with something with bubbles.
Diemer saw the possibitities with the bubbly gum and decided to carry a five pound glop of it to the grocery store and try and sell it there. It sold out in a single afternoon. Before long, Fleer Chewing Gum Company was marketing Diemers creation.
Bubble gum became very popular and other companies like Bazooka started to make it. Diemer eventually became the senior vice president of the Fleer company though he never recieved any royalties for his invention.
