FAQ

Why I chose this topic

Why I chose this topic

I chose this topic because I am enthusiastice about books of a lot of generes and I believe that books should never be banned and doing so is an attack on people's rights. I also believe that people have right to decide what they can or can't read. I also believe that no book should be censored as well, since it only does more harm then good often times.

Facts

Facts

I have found some facts that were interesting while researching this topic.

  • Acoording to the American Library Association, over 11,300 books have been challenged since the origin of Banned Books Week 33 years ago.
  • The most challanged book from 2000-2009 was the Harry Potter series
  • Teachers have been fired for teaching banned books many times
  • For the past 25 years, the reason why most books are banned is supoposedly due to offensive language, sexual content, and being thought to not suit a particluar age group
  • More often then not, parents are the ones often challenging books rather then teachers, schools, or organizations.
