Deforestation is a man-made occurrence in the ecosystem and is one of the MAIN contributors to global warming and climate change. It is very bad for the environment and is happening all around us though a few places that have been hit the hardest are Brazil, Bolivia, and Peru.
Agriculture is a cause of deforestation because people need the land to plant crops. Other causes of Deforestation are logging, natural disasters, urbanization, and mining. Scientists believe that this deforestation has had a huge affect on the Earth and climate change.
Deforestation affects many ecosystems and the communities or organisms interacting within the ecosystem. This means that all kinds of plants and animals are at risk due to human activities and actions. This ALSO affects the atmosphere due to the loss of trees to keep the air clean, so it is contributing to air pollution as well.
Deforestation has been happening since humans have known how to build fires, houses, etc., but deforestation really became a significant issue in the years of 1950. Deforestation affects biodiversity when organisms from that ecosystem cannot find a new habitat and therefore, slowly become extinct. It can also lead to specific types of trees to permanently vanish from the Earth. This has been happening for millions of years all because of humans.
Deforestation is still happening today! :(
Deforestation takes away the trees that produce the air we breathe and if we get rid of trees, rain and snowfall will be reduced greatly causing there to be less nutrients and water for the plants that we eat, to grow. Trees also help the land keep water and topsoil which gives rich nutrients to many different organisms in the forest. Without forests, the soil erodes and washes away, causing farmers to have less soil in one area and have to plant crops somewhere else.
To stop Deforestation from destroying the Earth, we could:
