1910- Korea was colonized by Japan and thus had to follow japanese schooling. Ethnic Koreans and ethnic japanese were taught in separate schools however they were all taught by japanese instructors in japanese
1919- Koreans realized that in ordered to get the qualifications and well worth education they needed to follow the new modern education
1949-1953. the basic education law was implemented to unify the education system. As a result, Koreans received 6 years of compulsory education, 3 years of non- compulsory middle school and 3 of non- compulsory secondary
within this time Korea saw a rapid increase in the number of students.
1963- they reintroduced vocational high school so Koreans were able to attain certain skills from particular jobs in vocational schools
1969- education became compulsory for 9 years and entrance exams were only for high school.
No infrastructure or natural resources after the Korean War. South Korea has embraced globalisation and is Asia 4th largest economy, with a focus on technology (Samsung Etc) and Automobile production. can we link to education???
