Many common challenges faced within this story were trouble within friendships and Cort's dad's divorce which is shown on page 35 paragraph 2 states '' I never saw mom work at anything except making dad miserable '' this support the reason for the divorce. These two challenges were the most important based on the fact that they both effect Cort's life and his emotions. This is fixed in the end by . The resoultion in the book is that the parants get a better relationship toghether. Also the freindship gets better.

Common Challenges

An example of shift in narration was on page 130 paragraph 1 it states, ''I'd seen a man snakebite before. a pasty skinned bird-watcher from Minnesota, a retired attorney we took on a day trip''. This is an example of shift because he is talking about the snakebite then he shifts to talk about the story of a snakebite that happened in the past.

Shifts in Time/ Narration

An example of typography is on page 140, pargraph 1 at the beginning of the sentence it says ''I reached out and picked some Juniper berries.'' The reason it is typography is because the writing is shown in a diffrent font and it is bold in the text.

Typography

On page 130 paragraph 2 in the book it states,'' A moment later we heard him deep in the underbrush, screaming like a girl '' This is a form of a simile because it is comparing the man's scream to a girl's using like or as.

Figurative Language

In the begging of this book Cort was very educated about nature and the wild but at the end. I feel that he had too apply his knowledge with multiply challenges that he faced, such as snake bites and various types of animal attack this was shown on page 131 paragraph 4

Beginning and ending

Threat,Warning,Promises

The storm began as a threat when it was introduced on the weather channel when it appears on page 20 paragraph 2 '' I watched the storm on the news, looking like a an enormous saw blade spinning over the Gulf. '' . This shows the location and the comparison to two deadly things.

The setting of this book is Bottle Creek. which is located in the swamp land of the Alabama coast. Even though it does not tell the era of the story I believe it is in modern day. I think the fact that it in Alabama is important because the southern culture plays a vital .rule in the story.

Setting

Some of the details given at the climax were, when Liz's mom went to find Cort's dad and try to bring him to safety this can be shown on page 68 paragraph 2 when it says '' I had a bad feeling about Mrs.Stoval leaving, but I had a even worse feeling about going through the storm without dad '' . In addition when Cort, Liz and Francine got caught in the storm is anther important detail. This is illustrated on page 81 paragraph 1 '' I ran straight into the storm, Francine, I yelled. The wind swept my voice away like tissue paper ''. These details are important because they show a sense of urgency and the severeness of the storm.

Cort's dad

Is a important role model to Cort and is a outdoors servile expert. After his divorce Cort's dad was not always there for his son or support his interest such as in the book at the very begging it talk how cort wanted to play basketball for his school but his dad could not make time to take him to practice. Also Cort express in the book that after his mom left he felt like he could not talk to his dad. personality traits that would describe his dad are hardworking, depressed, sad and misunderstood. physical traits that describe his dad are
