Naomi Osaka is a Japanese professional tennis player. She was born on October 16, 1997, in Japan. She is the first Asian woman to be ranked number one in singles and the first Japanese woman to win a Grand Slam.

when Osaka was only 3 years old her father Leonard decided to move from japan to the united states and started teaching his two daughters to play tennis

early career

Thinking about his daughters' success, Leonard decided to move from Long Island to Florida in 2006 to ensure that his daughters would have more opportunities to train. After much training, Osaka became a professional tennis player in 2013.

By the summer of 2014, Naomi qualified for the main draw of the WTA, and scored her first major offset against ‘Samantha Stosur’ who was the world’s No. 19 at the time

Naomi was just 16 years old and was No. 406 in the world rankings. She had some big results in 2017 that helped her maintain her rankings. she reached the 16th round of the canadian open. Seeing that her progress had stagnated, Osaka fired her coach and hired ‘Sascha Bajin’ in the off-season. Her performance improved, she got to the fourth round of the Australian Open Grand Slam for the first time, defeating two top 20 players along the way. Then she won her first professional title at the ‘Indian Wells Open’ beating two out of the top five in the world rankings. This title took her to the top 22

Her second title of the year came at the Grand Slam of the US Open, where she worked her way to victory in the final against her idol Serena Williams. With that victory, she became the first Japanese and the first Asian male or female to win a Grand Slam singles tournament.

Osaka was now in the top 10 and she got to the final of her next tournament the ‘Pan Pacific Open’ before finally losing to Pliskova ending her 10-game winning streak. The China Open saw her reach the semi-finals, this brought her to No. 4 in the world rankings. After playing in the WTA finals, Osaka ended her season as the WTA Tour leader of the year and a whopping $6.4 million in prize money.
