Andy Warhol was born Andrew Warhola Jr. on August 6, 1928
in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
In 1945, he enrolled into the Carnegie Institute of Design and Technology
In 1949, Andy moved to New York, and started his commercial artist career
In 1952, Warhol had his first solo show at the Hugo Gallery in New York
In 1963, Andy opened his first studio in New York City, which became known as "The Factory". The Factory is well known for it's parties in the 1960's. It was the spot for artists, musicians, celebrities, and "Warhol's Superstars"
By the mid-1960's, pop art was at it's most popular. From October 6th to November 7th of 1964, he participated in an exhibition known as "The American Supermarket", where he collaborated with many well known pop artists such as Jasper Johns, and Roy Lichtenstein
In 1964, he created the painting "Shot Marilyns"
Fun Fact: It's called Shot Marilyns because Dorothy Podber shot the stack of paintings containing it, also turquoise marilyn was not in the stack explaining why it was not shot
In 1970, Warhol retired from pop art for a year, and moved into filming movies
Warhol went to NY hospital to get gallbladder surgery, however, 4 days after surgery, on February 22, 1988, he tragically died of a heart attack.
