What is DNA and what does it stand for?

DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic acid. DNA is a molecule that carries genetic material in all living things.

What are the components/parts of DNA? Is this how we can identify species?

A1: There are many components of DNA. A2: Yes. This is how we can find criminals who may leave tracks "behind".

DNA

Deoxyribonucleic acid

Some components of DNA are:

Fingerprinting

This is how we catch some people who commit crimes by touching weapons, tables, etc. You can do this by using tape or a strong powder.

The Mass

The Freezing Point

The Density

The Melting Point

The Boiling Point

The Viscosity

The Luster

The Solubility

Physical properties are about the observations.

Genetics: the study of heredity and change in a species/ family of species. And genetics does play a big role in DNA.

The texture describes how a substance feels.

Fingerprints are the tiny lines on the tip of your fingers. There are also different, so this may help with identification of who touched what. Example: If you were to touch a desk, your fingerprints will be there.

Water freezes at 32 degrees Fahreheit and 0 degrees celcius.

Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius and 212 degrees Fahrenheit.

The melting point tells the temperature at which a substance melts.

The mass is the amount of matter inside an object.

The freezing point tells the temperature at which a substance freezes.

Genetics

The solubility describes how well one substance dissolves in another substance.

This is called a double helix.

To measure mass you can use a triple-beam balance

The Texture

Density=Mass

volume

The density is the amount of mass in a given volume. Mass per Volume.

The viscosity describes how well a liquid flows or resist flowing.

There can also be some misunderstandings when it comes to fingerprinting. It can be hard to code when comparing!

The Boiling point tells the temperature at which a substance boils.

The luster describes how well a substance reflects light or shines.

There are also other things like.....

The color

The Shape and Size

And

The Conductivity

Sci. Fact-

People use physical properties to observe you!

All of those things are physical properties.

Observe how things can be molded or reshaped when observing the malleability.

When Your parents have heart burn and they need an alka-seltzer, observe the solubility when watching the medicine tablet dissolve in water.

You can observe things like the viscosity when pouring honey in your tea, watch how the honey flows.
