The genre of this book is historical fiction. The reason of it being historical fiction is because it actually happened in the past but not this particular story

The setting takes place in Galveston, Texas in the early 1900's as a severe storm is coming towards there town. The hurricane hitting the coast is considered to be one of the worst hurricanes ever.

The Main Characters

Seth is one of the biggest Characters in here. He wants to be carpenter, but doesn't want to go to college to be a doctor he then proceeds to get a summer job as a carpenter when one day he is out working when the storm hits that's when things go south

Seth Braeden is the main character in this novel as he does not want to move from his hometown but he learns to like Galveston

Summary

The story starts off when they first are going to Galveston, so he can be a doctor there. But he has been trying to tell his dad that he wants to be a carpenter instead because that was the family he was born in. Then the turning point in the story is when the storm hits and then continues to go home and finds that nobody is there. So he then assumes there at shelter and then proceeds to find shelter for himself in his neighboring house. Then he proceeds to go back home and is surprised to see his family. When the storm is over and there in the clear up section he then gets things right with his dad and now he has one more year of school and will be a carpenter.
