To avoid these types of mistakes , writers need to get relatives or friends to look over their draft copies so adjustments can easiyl be made before the final version is realesed. Before actually writing the script , the writer needs to be crystal clear on their idea ; whether it is a horror or a thriller and then brainstorm every detail to decrease the chances of mistakes when writing it.
If mistakes made when writing a short horror script are not corrected , it could lead to difficulties during production. If there are Typo's for example it makes the screenwriter seem unprofessional and may cause actors to mis-interpret dialogue , action or mis-prenounce character names.
Additionally , an incorrect format , such as the wrong slugline may make the directors job harder to understand what the writer has set the scene as. Also it could creatively clash with the directors vision as the writer has been unclear. Futhermore , having too much gore without a good storyline may bore the auidence and casue a lack of interest. Confusions between thriller and horror conventions in the pre-production stage could confuse the director and auidence as people will be disappointed its not the horror they payed to see if it adopts coventions of a thriller.
When writing a short horror film script , it is possible to make several mistakes. These may include :
-Typo's
- Not using capitals for characters names
- Getting confused between thriller and Horror
-Not setting the scene
- Incorrect format ( sluglines)
- Unrealistic action or dialogue that does not translate to the actual filming
-Not ending a scene before introducing fresh action/ideas
- Having blood and gore without an actually good storyline
