The struggle for human rights continues, with new challenges emerging such as climate change, mass migration, and cyberwarfare.

As World War II was about to end in 1945, nations were in ruins, and the world wanted peace. Representatives of 50/51 countries gathered at the United Nations Conference on International Organization in San Francisco, California from 25 April to 26 June 1945.

Cyrus the Great conquers Babylon and issues the Cyrus Cylinder, one of the first documents to recognize the rights of all people, regardless of their religion or ethnicity.

2006. The International Convention on the Rights of

Persons with Disabilities is adopted. The first human rights

instrument of the 21st century. It gives expression to the civil,

cultural, economic, political and social rights of persons with

disabilities and the steps Governments must take to promote

those rights, including through sustainable development.

The United Nations is founded, with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted as its founding document.

The Magna Carta is signed by King John of England, limiting the power of the monarch and establishing the principle that all people are subject to the law.

The United States Declaration of Independence is adopted, proclaiming that all men are created equal and endowed with certain unalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The Petition of Right is passed by the English Parliament, further limiting the power of the monarch and guaranteeing certain rights to the people, such as the right to habeas corpus.

The Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide is adopted by the United Nations.

The French Revolution begins, leading to the overthrow of the monarchy and the adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, which guarantees the rights to liberty, equality, property, security, and resistance to oppression.

The  Universal Declartion of Human Rights (UDHR) 

a milestone document in the history of human rights.

Drafted by representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world, the Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948

The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women is adopted by the United Nations.
