- Al Mansoori was one of two people selected from 4,022 candidates, following a series of tests in the UAE and Russia. ... On 3 September 2018, Sheikh Mohammed tweeted: “We announced today our first astronauts to the International Space Station: Hazza Al Mansoori and Sultan Al Nayadi.

His life in ISS
- Major Hazzaa Al Mansoori made history last week, on Wednesday September 25 when he became the first Emirati astronaut to go to space. He went to the International Space Station for eight days and has now safely returned back to Earth on a Soyuz MS-12 spacecraft.
- He left ISS at 11.37am, UAE time and touched down near Dzhezkazgan in Kazakhstan at 2.59pm. Once the Soyuz capsule left the ISS, it travelled at 17,500 kilometres per hour, and slowed to 900 kilometres per hour once it was 12 kilometres from Earth.
