These Trees are actually giant fungi grown from Crimson Fungus, however they provide shelter, and food for other species. Being a fungus, they also grow on decaying matter.
Crimson Trees provide shelter for the Crimson forest's species, which is only unique to them.
Crimson Fungus, is a fungi that grows on the floor of the Crimson forest, and is a decomposer. Along with being a food source for mobs, it decomposes the dying matter in the biome, giving nutrients back to the soil to help them grow into a giant fungus or tree.
The Crimson Fungi have a very important niche as a food source. The hoglins eat the fungus, and they piglins eat the hoglins, meaning both species would not exist without it.
The crimson fungus helps the crimson trees by providing nutrients in the soil by decomposing matter, and the crimson trees help the fungus by providing shelter from the harsh nether environment.
The Crimson Fungus is a massively important keystone species. The hoglins feed on the fungus, being their only food source. They are also the main decomposer of the biome, meaning the crimson trees would not exist without it.
The hoglin is a boar like mammal. It is a herbivore and has evolved thick skin to help protect is against the intense nether biome. It eats the crimson fungus and is hunted by piglins.
The waste matter they produce helps the produce the matter the fungus consumes.
Hoglins are an important part of the biotic community in the crimson forest because they are in the middle of the food chain. The rest of the species in the ecosystem require them to be able to be healthy. The Piglins need them for food and the fungus needs them for population control.
The hoglin eats the crimson fungus. This forms the predator/prey relationship, as the fungus is destroyed and turned into energy for the hoglin to live.
The Piglin is at the top of the food chain in the nether. They are humanoid pig-like mammals. They are carnivorous and eat hoglins.
They actively hunt in packs to take down their prey. The have a huge love for gold. and will actively trade with anyone who offers them it.
The piglin has a special role or niche as the sole carnivore in the crimson forest. No other biotic species in the biome is carnivorous. It is the sole hunter of the piglin and is an incredible necessity for population control.
The Piglin is a carnivore, and therefore a predator. The hunt in packs and even have a ritualistic dance they do when they complete a hunt. They hunt hoglins as their only source of food. The hoglins however, often fight back and might even kill a piglin, as they are very strong.
The Piglins and crimson fungus have a relationship where the fungus is helped, while the piglin gets nothing. The piglins, while producing waste and decay matter themselves, also hunt the hoglins, and the leftover scraps of what they eat are massive in fertilizing and providing for the crimson fungus to thrive.
Striders are passive herbivores that live on lava. Unlike any other mob, they have the ability to walk on lava. They thrive in the lava in the crimson forest and eat crimson and warped fungi. They do not have any predators, but they do get lethargic when outside of lava.
Striders barely participate in the biotic community in the Crimson forest. This is because they spend most of their time in lava. However they do interact with the crimson fungi by eating them occasionally. The piglins and hoglins are very passive with striders and tend to ignore them. However, there is a chance a piglin might actually ride a strider across lava and help eachother out.
The striders actually have competition for their food sources with hoglins. While Striders much prefer warped fungus, they are very rarely found in the Crimson forest. However their main food source has to be the crimson fungus. This means they have to compete with the hoglins over the fungus. They dont fight, but the sttiders are very passive and tend to avoid the hoglins.
