  • A combination of perseverance, passion and resilience

  • Not giving up or quitting when faced with difficulties and challenges

  • Resilience is an important concept in psychological health

  • American Psychologist Association has supplemented us with “10 ways to build resilience”

10 ways to build resilience

1. Make connections

2. Avoid seeing crises as problems that can't be overcome

3. Accept that change is part of living

4. Move toward your goals

5. Take decisive actions to resolve any problems

6. Look for opportunities for self-discovery

7. Develop a positive view of yourself

8. Keep things in perspective

9. Maintain a hopeful outlook

10. Take care of yourself

Motivation

  • Internal and external factors that stimulate desire and energy in people to be continually interested and committed to a job, role or subject, or to make an effort to attain a goal.
  • Motivation results from the interaction of both conscious and unconscious
  • Motivation requires activity
  • Students who are motivated to learn often find that once they do they are intrinsically motivated to continue their learning.

What you believe about yourself and about your most basic qualities such as your personality, intelligence, or talents.

  • Mindset fall into two categories

Growth mindset

Growth mindset

  • Willing to try new approaches and believe they can change.

  • It’s all about the process, so the outcome hardly matters

  • Think of learning as a joyful and constructive process rather than a chore

Fixed Mindset

Fixed Mindset

  • Believe that their characteristics and abilities are not going to change through any adjustments to your behavior or effort.

  • Often try to prove themselves

  • Very sensitive about being wrong/making mistakes

  • Think making an effort means they are not smart or talented
