Why did Algeria get imperiliazed?
On 22 June 1834,France officially annexed the parts of Algeria that were populated. They had about 2 million Muslims as a military colony. The colony was run by the military who had both civilian and military forces their. However, it took France approximately 70 years to be able to fully control Algeria. They only obtained independence from France in 1962, after conducting a bloody liberation war between 1954 and 1962 that killed an estimated 1.5 million Algerians. French colonial control in Algeria lasted 132 years, beginning with the conquest of Algiers in 1830 and ending with the Algerian War of Independence in 1962. Despite the fact that the form of French control altered throughout time, Algeria was administered as an essential part of France from 1848 until independence.
