What is Buddhism?

Buddhism is a path of practice and spiritual development leading to insight into the true nature of reality. Buddhist practices like meditation are a means of changing yourself in order to develop the qualities of awareness, kindness and wisdom. The experience developed within the Buddhist tradition over thousands of years has created an incomparable resource for all who follow this religion.

Who is Buddha?

Buddha was a monk, philosopher, teacher and religious leader on whose teachings Buddhism was founded.

Biography of Buddha

BIRTH DATE: 563 BC

DEATH DATE: 483 BC

PLACE of BIRTH: Lumbini, Nepal PLACE OF DEATH: India

Buddha taught and travelled his whole life until the age of 80,when he died.

Why is Buddha so important?

The word Buddha means enlightened. The path to enlightenment is attained by meditation and wisdom.

His father was King Suddhodanga and his mother was Queen Maya Devi.
