Step 1

1. Personal Statement

Applicants must hold an IRSE Logbook which is up to date and has been reviewed in the previous 12 months

Personal Statement & Evidence

Applicants must write a personal statement against each of the criteria in the IRSE Checklist. This is based on the work they have done and must be supported by documentary evidence.

Step 2

Evidence can include:

Observation / simulation

Questioning / Discussion

Workplace Assessment

This is usually carried out face to face and will include observation for practical licences.

Work products / Documents

Witness statement

Step 3

This is a verbal discussion style assessment.

Competence Assessment

It is to check the WPA has covered everything .

This can be done via video link e.g. Teams or Zoom

Step 4

Quality Check

This is carried out by the Assessing Agency to ensure the assessment meets the IRSE requirements.

Step 5

5. IRSE

IRSE

The IRSE do their own quality checks and then they issue the licence to the Assessing Agency.

Rules for an

Initial Assessment

Both assessors must be approved with the same Assessing Agency that is processing the application.

Rules for this Assessment

There cannot be more than 6 months between WPA and CA.

There cannot be more than 6 months between CA and sending it to the IRSE
