Group 4 / Straight Off the Couch

Introduction

There are more slaves in the world than the population of London, New York, and Los Angeles combined.

40.3 million people are estimated to be victims of human trafficking.

Thesis

Human trafficking in California is a serious issue that has negatively affected the lives of many people, including women and children, and it is an issue that must be solved to prevent further harm.

History

History

Human trafficking in California is sadly a common crime. Since California is near an international border this allows for human trafficking on a larger scale. Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco, as we know are the top destinations for human trafficking for being diverse cities. The battle with human trafficking in Los Angeles has been going on since 2005, and nearly 15 years late is one of LA’s biggest problems. The reason why LA is one of the major human trafficking hubs is because of its diversity. Most people “blend in” or don’t know how to speak the language so most people being trafficked end up blending in.
