Where is it located?

It was located in Mexico.

When did it start and end?

It started in 1100 and ended in 1521.

How did it start?

They started in Aztlan in northern Mexico. They moved a lot in 225 years. They finally settled down in the city of Tenochtitlan.

The government is a Monarchy.

GOVERNMENT

Monarchy is when a person leads the government until they die. Their ruler was King Huey Tlatoani.

Jobs - The husbands were either a warrior or a farmer. The wives made clothes for the family and cooked.

The kids went to school or helped around the house.

Social Classes -

1. The top was the King and his family.

2. Tecuhtli were the rulers of other cities and states. They were very powerful and rich.

3. Pipiltin were a noble class. They had to wear certain clothes with gold and feathers.

4. Pochteca were important because they found goods to sell to Pipiltin people.

5. Macehualtin were warriors, craftsman and farmers.

6. Slaves were at the bottom because they did a crime or they had to pay for a debt.

They would build walls and removable bridges. This helped them protect themselves from attacks. The center of the city was walled off and had three entrances.

The Aztec's worshiped the sun. They thought they had to sacrifice things for the sun to rise everyday. They worshiped lots of gods but the main one is Huitzilopochtli.

Art was important to them. They made sculptures, music, poetry, jewelry and feather art to worship their gods.

The architecture they had was pyramids and stone houses.

They used symbols and pictographs to communicate. They couldn't read or write. The priests were the only people who could read or write.
